A moment of silence

Good morning world,
Of course it’s only a figure of speech. It’s definitely not a good morning from my POV.
Woke up to the devastating news. I was full of hope for once and it just shattered in an instant.
I don’t think I’m a very political person or rather a person that expresses her views often, but today it just feels wrong to pretend like millions of americans AND the rest of the world won’t be affected by the result of the elections.

My mind can not comprehend how Trump was able to be a candidate in the first place given the fact that he has been convicted of several crimes.
Listen, don’t get me wrong, I know presidents of other countries including France have their fair deal of skelettons in their closets…but to think that the USA, a country where its citizens are overall deeply patriotic, and with such an influence on global politics openly allows and accept a convicted candidate… it truly blows my mind.
How can this be allowed? Wasn’t there another candidate to represent the party?

I would like to remain hopeful but right now I’m just scared, disgusted and disappointed.
And I don’t even live there!
That says a lot.

Like many others, I only want one thing: that he proves us wrong.
I genuinely hope that with his actions AND his words (which is potentially the hardest part, given how much he likes to make a buzz) he will redeem himself as a president and global leader.
Forget about him as a person for a second because that’s another problem altogether.

To my american friends, keep fighting the good fight and remain strong together.
Community is more important than ever.
Find strength in helping each other on a day-to-day and hands-on basis.
Keep educating others around you.
Keep debunking fake news.
Etc, etc, etc…
I know it’s easier said than done but don’t give up.
As for today… take it easy.

With compassion and love,
Camille
