Hey there! Thank you so much for reading today’s edition of Caravanserai. I’m super grateful that you’re allocating some of your time to read it.
How are you feeling?
I’m curious to know how September has been for you so far.
On my end… well, I feel exhausted.
Let’s keep it real.
I should have taken some proper holidays earlier this year, but as a newbie freelancer, this step is scary.
What if I lose clients? What if I mess up when I come back?
These questions went through my head often, but I’ve reached the point where I need to take holidays before I burn out.
Truth is, besides the fact that we’re still in a pandemic and that the first few months as a freelancer can be quite intense, some of my family members haven’t been doing too well these past few months.
And, as you can imagine, it reflects on my own mental health & mood.
Without going too much in details, two of them have mental health issues that caused them to be interned. And during my last trip to France in July, I saw the two of them not being their “regular” self.
It was hard to witness, so once I came back home in August, my reflex was to dive into work to numb down my emotions.
It worked… for some time.
I’m looking forward to resting soon, and plan to take breaks each month until January.
What about you?
I hope September has been synonym of a fresh start & positive energy, moving you forward!
Notion news
Since most of you are here, after all, to learn about Notion related news… I shall deliver!
This week, Notion actually released a couple more new features (Notion 2.12)
I’ll be quoting David directly:
- New right-hand sidebar where all the comments are consolidated on any given page
- New filter to only see resolved discussions
- Attach images, videos, GIFs & files to comments
- Copy & share links to comments
- Set a homepage for your public site! Now you could truly print a business card that says “acmedesign.notion.site” and have it take folks exactly where you want (as opposed to acmedesign.notion.site/f00b1e695f4a4c659f703158282f7f9a)
- New iOS & iPadOS features
- Create Siri shortcuts to open a Notion page
- Find your Notion pages in your Spotlight search
- Copy & paste multi-column layouts
- New API integrations
- Redesigned page mentions icon
- Hitting return/enter to select a Select property value in the last row of a table no longer creates a new row
I have been loving the default homepage setting, comments sidebar and the ability to copy/paste multi-columns layouts…as well as the brand new look of their Help Center ❤
The Notion team has been rocking the new updates lately!

Notioneers in Paris
Our Notion en Français x No-Code France meetup on Oct 22 is shaping up! We already have 10 participants/hosts + 40 guests, as well as around 15-25 guests from Qonto, the company who kindly agreed to host this meetup. I’m looking forward to share photos & videos from the event! (PS: first time being involved in a physical event organisation, it’s an interesting challenge)
Piece for thoughts
I saw this tweet today and it resonated so much with me.
What I love about it is that since most of us had really different childhoods, “who we needed” ends up representing quite a diverse group of people.
However, it implicates that this person is good and uplifting in some shape or form.
It’s a great goal to have - certainly better than the neverending happiness chase most of us embark on.
I don’t know if I would be happy by becoming who I needed when I was younger, but I would certainly be proud and aligned.
Would you?
Thank you for your time!
This edition has been a bit long, so thank you if you made it to the end.
I’ll leave you with this great video I found the other day (I promise it’s good)
Take care and see you next week!
Camille
